Time for a bit of shaming

This morning, I stumbled across this heinous post, in which some asshole decided to use my blog's content in an attempt to justify his racism:

This is the content he used from my blog, which comes from this post:

"NOT SO. I can name a couple of genes and not much more that influence intelligence:

COMT
DTNBP1
SNAP-25
CHRM2
Human neuropsin
FADS2
IGF2R
Dysbindin-1
and a small amount of genes on chromosome 4"

And this is what the asshat wrote in the rest of his article:<

"Some comments on Jim Manzi’s article at above link. This is well written and thought out. However, we can measure IQ racial differences at the top of the column easily. Very few blacks produce great math. One exception is David Blackwell and there are others.

"To tell if two bodies of water are the same height you look at the top. Same with trees, people, etc. You don’t have to know the chemistry of the insides of the lakes, trees, or people to tell that one is higher than the other. Its the same with intelligence. We look at the top of the races and see a huge difference. That is the measurement. We can look at the societies and civilizations and see a large part of the distribution.

"If blacks can’t figure out not to eat lead, that is an indication of intelligence. Whites did figure that one out. Claiming its lead or whatever in the environment doesn’t explain why one group can figure out lead is a problem and avoid it. If lead was the problem, then liberals say its whites fault for not keeping blacks from ingesting lead."

Someone doesn't understand much about intelligence, does he. Nor does he understand shit about logical fallacies.

Let the shaming commence!

" We investigated various cases of the island model with stochastic migration. If the population is infinite, the immigrants have a fixed gene frequency and the alleles are neutral, the gene frequency on the island converges to that of the immigrants."

Genetics. 1979 January; 91(1): 163–176.

The Island Model with Stochastic Migration

Thomas Nagylaki

Department of Biophysics and Theoretical Biology, The University of Chicago,

This proves its immigration that is racist and xenophobic.

The convergence of genes to a population does not imply racism or xenophobia. Nature does not have prejudices.

Am I right when I conjecture that you have likely never taken a college-level biology course, much less genetics?

You are right, on question two.

"Nature does not have prejudices."

But don't the immigrants?

How does what you've said in your first comment imply in any way that they have prejudices?

The article you linked to is a description of random migration with fixed gene frequencies - all it says is that the gene frequency on an island is going to be a little more similar to that of the immigrants as the number goes up. Immigration is a changing of the mean. And this is a 1979 article; try looking at articles in the last ten years if you want a better idea of what we know about human population genetics, specifically those of intelligence.

I mean, seriously, why are you making these conjectures when you don't have the first freaking clue about genetics?

Or are you just so stuck on your racism and your prejudices that you won't listen to any studies, no matter how good they are?

Actually, its a flow of migration with random rates. The fixed gene frequency is not key, its a simplification that can be relaxed.

The better theorem is the one I give as follows. This looks at the survival rate of each gene molecule and traces that to have a survival probability of zero using a squeeze proof. You might want to review squeeze proofs in calculus. This is a little more exotic.

immigration-vanishing-survival-theorem/

"Assume that

1. Population is bounded from above
2. The flow of immigrants is unbounded from above
3. The survival probabilities of the genes of each immigrant are equal.

Then

For any given cohort of immigrants at time t, the survival probability of their genes at T > t, p(t,T) must go to zero as T goes to infinity."

The Wright Island Model is set up for the frequency distribution of alleles.

"first freaking clue about genetics?"

Much of math biology and math genetics was done by people from varied backgrounds. Nagylaki did work in quantum field theory and then switched to math biology. Operations research, econ, and other areas may have math that is applicable to biology and genetics.

What do you consider examples of convergence of genes to a different mean that doesn't imply racism or xenophobia by the immigrants in the case of human populations?

Did you take one variable calculus? How well do you know it? You might want to review it.
